The power of our makerspace goes far beyond the value of tools and training. We serve as a hub for independent creativity and community collaboration.
In our 4,600-square-foot hangar located at Truckee Tahoe Airport, we offer five fully functioning shops - Wood, Metal, Textiles, Ceramics, and Technology - with a robust complement of high-quality tools, including cutting-edge CNC Laser Engravers, Plasma Cutters, and 3D printers.
We provide the tools, training, and mentors for makers to achieve their dreams. Members access expensive equipment and technologies without the cost of ownership, leading to increased creativity and innovation.
The safe environment we create contributes to improved youth and community emotional resilience and bolsters economic potential through creative expression and vocational exposure. As a community-run, community-benefiting organization, the Roundhouse enriches lives with meaningful professional and recreational arts and education programs.
We exist for all members of the Greater Truckee and North Lake Tahoe mountain community and serve as a catalyst for a more connected and creative world. We provide accessible resources -- tools and teachers and programs -- in a collaborative environment where young and old come together to explore their creative potential.
Our financial aid programs reinforce our commitment to making the makerspace accessible to everyone in the community.
We have more than 300 members, ranging in age from 8 to 82. They are guitar makers and furniture builders, families working together on projects, fine artists making gallery pieces, entrepreneurs incubating their small businesses — there is no limit to the type of users the makerspace attracts.
Engagement at the Roundhouse provides authentic connections to reduce loneliness. Classes connect people in the community to those they may not otherwise meet, people of different ages, abilities, backgrounds, and professions.
Our programs help forge pathways to economic independence for non-traditional learners and others who may not attach themselves to education or the workforce.
Our youth programs brings numerous benefits as students exercise their creativity, receive instruction in project design and execution, forge peer-to-peer relationships through teamwork, apply problem-solving skills, increase self-esteem, learn to experiment, and apply math and science principles to real-life situations.
In all these ways we achieve ourvision to empower people to explore their creative potential and build a more connected, inspired, and vibrant world.
This year, your donations are matched 100% until December 31.
