Alissa's Fundraiser to Unite Over Creativity

Thank you for stopping by my Truckee Roundhouse Give Back Tahoe fundraising page and reading about the place I love so much. This year, I’m here to tell you about a very special magic that happens in a makerspace that is so important to humankind.

Unity. Humans are nothing without each other.

The heart of the Truckee Roundhouse Community Makerspace is connection. All of us come in to make our own individual projects, yet we are always asking each other questions, bouncing ideas off each other, making up new ideas together, and offering comfort during challenging life events. When makers come together, our collective strength, ideas, and actions become a powerful ocean. It’s the most magical ocean at the place I get to call my work. 

From the countless hours and energy our volunteers give, to the generous donors who believe in keeping our space affordable, I'm inspired every day. It inspires me to push myself and my creative projects further. This year in particular, I learned how to weld (finally!), made my creative niece, Ainslie, a Tea Cup Little Library (her idea!) with the HUGE help of my maker friends and volunteers (thank you Brent and Alyssa!), took a Butcher Block wood shop class with my dad (love you, Dougie!), laser engraved glasses and coasters for Reno Public House's 13th birthday (love you, big bro!), 3D printed an astronaut toilet paper holder (actually two..), vinyl cut a lot of things on our new Cricut machine, and couldn’t stop using my favorite tool (maybe I’m not supposed to have favorites..), the lathe, woodturning some little bowls out of butcher block scraps.

The maker movement is here and the Roundhouse is uniting and growing in our community more than ever. We are all creative (even if you think you're not, you ARE. Explore it!), and supporting our makerspace this season is the greatest gift you can give. 

Your donation this year is super important because we have a new dream -- EXPANSION! Yup, we're moving into 1,100 sq ft next door and building an additional loft space. We’re thrilled to meet the community’s demand for more classes, more tools, and even more creative resources. Your donation will directly impact this important project we're about to launch.
