$40,000 Goal

Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships (SWEP) is a small non-profit with a big mission to create a better world by educating and inspiring students to become lifelong stewards, future leaders, advocates, scientists, educators, change-makers, and environmentally conscientious world citizens in combating our Climate Crisis.

SWEP programming provides hands-on experiential learning to over 4,000 TK-12 students in the North Tahoe-Truckee region annually, focusing on vital & relevant environmental topics including sustainability, conservation, forest health, climate science, watershed health and restoration, environmental career pathways, outdoor learning, zero waste initiatives and overall sustainability with methane reduction through organic waste diversion, which are concepts or components fundamental to a circular economy. Our outdoor, environmental and science-focused programming is brought to students through fieldwork opportunities that change with the seasons, as well as Sustainability Clubs that meet weekly throughout the school year. This year, SWEP celebrates our 30th year of promoting stewardship in the Truckee-North Tahoe region, having empowered thousands of students to solve environmental challenges by making a positive difference within the local community, one project at a time, along the way.
